YEARS OF SERVICE
In 2024, Drs. Ced and LaChish McMillan founded the McMillan Family Foundation as a way to give back to business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, and individuals striving for financial freedom. Viewing philanthropy as an investment in people and communities, they built a mission centered on three core pillars: financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and health.
Having grown up in the inner cities of Prichard, AL, and Philadelphia, PA, Ced and LaChish understand firsthand the challenges of breaking barriers and building a better future. They believe everyone deserves a fair opportunity to succeed—and that lasting success is built on financial knowledge, entrepreneurial opportunity, and healthy living.
This belief is captured in the Foundation’s mission:
“To promote healthy families and thriving communities by empowering people across the socioeconomic spectrum with education, resources, and opportunities to increase financial literacy, encourage entrepreneurship, and improve health and fitness—advocating for equitable access and financial inclusion.”
Ced’s extensive background in business, combined with LaChish’s distinguished military and medical career, fuels the Foundation’s programs and initiatives. Their shared passion for financial freedom and building generational wealth drives every effort.
The McMillan Family Foundation trustees set policies relating to grant-making, scholarships, projects and programs, spending, investment, management, and governance.
Foundation trustees bring a vast range of knowledge and experience to the task of operating the foundation’s programs. The current board, hail from across the country, and they have extensive experience in the worlds of higher education, business, law, government, technology, health care, nonprofit management, the arts, and the civic sector.
